She met a tragic death in early June of 1660, a victim of Huron renegadesin
quest of plunder on the Beaupre coast. Masquerading as Iroquois theycarried
off the young wife, her daughter Louise and three other children in hercare.
They were overtaken and surprised by the French and some Algonquins atPointe
Levis. Marie and one of her charges were killed in the skirmish whichfollowed.
