I Survive
A 2011 Recording
Power surge of emotions
Slowly leaving my veins
And a happiness comes over me
I’m no longer insane
I’m not caught up in this world now
Where only craziness rules
My pride’s no longer an issue
Mirrored as the fool
I survive
Breaking through that emotional prison
Climbing up to the Great Divine
In the hills of the Carolinas
Just on the western side
I survive
Not waiting for a miracle
Or praying that I would die
I survive
I survive
That voice no longer compels me
For empty habits of old
Lined with confusion
On streets once paved in gold
Consciously I'm a watcher
Aware on this earth
At peace within my body
Like a trembling rebirth
I survive
Breaking through that emotional prison
Climbing up to the Great Divine
In the hills of the Carolinas
Just on the western side
I survive
Not waiting for a miracle
Or praying that I would die
I survive
I survive
I blend among the living
Most don’t notice me
But my eyes tell the story
Of how it used to be
So I press on forward
What else can I do
Relieved and so relaxed now
No longer feeling blue
I survive
Breaking through that emotional prison
Climbing up to the Great Divine
In the hills of the Carolinas
Just on the western side
I survive
Not waiting for a miracle
Or praying that I would die
I survive
I survive
I survive
I survived
