My outlook on politics is and has always been about helping others.

Being a politician is all about giving; not taking. It is about caring for others not able to be heard or not having the means to be heard. It is about standing strong for the truth and justice of the American public; residents, businesses, and visitors. It is not about the politician or what they have accomplished. When a politician gets the idea that it is all about him/her, then it is time that politician steps down.

In politics, transparency is introduced as a means of holding public officials accountable and fighting corruption. When government meetings are open to the press and the public, when budgets and financial statements may be reviewed by anyone, when laws, rules and decisions are open to discussion, they are seen as transparent and there is less opportunity for the authorities to abuse the system for their own interest.

It does not matter if you are a Democrat, Independent, Republican or Tea Party Affiliation. What matters is that each individual stands up for the good of the people. Individuals need to be represented in all types of government.

President John F. Kennedy once said, "The world is changing. The old ways will not do... It is time for a new generation of leadership."

I am ashamed of our Politicians when they say "The Democrats are our enemy", or "The Republicans are our enemy", or "The Media is our enemy". Anyone who stands up and says something like that just doesn't get it and should resign. Our enemy is ignorance, our enemy is corruption, our enemy is a career politician who gets wealthy on the taxpayer's dime.

It is extremely important that each citizen does their part by voting in each election. If citizens do not like how things are being run, then do not vote for the incumbents. Vote for the new person; vote for a change; set new standards in government.

Remember the saying, "Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote". Even one vote in an election can make a difference!
